A leading urinalysis brand has added two new devices to improve the quality control and efficiency of its point of care tests.
Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics has expanded its urinalysis portfolio with the Clinitek Status+ Analyser and the Clinitek Status Connect System.
The Clinitek Status+ Analyser offers quality checks to improve the accuracy of clinical information, including automatic checks for common sample interferences and identification of the type of urine test strip applied.
The Status+ can be combined with the Clinitek Status Connect System to support connectivity to the patient’s electronic medical record. The new system uses a connector platform to integrate data directly to Laboratory Information Systems via a Point of Care data management system.
By automatically transmitting urinalysis patient test results, the Status Connect System streamlines documentation, eliminates manual recording and reduces errors.
The Status Connect system can restrict access to specified users and transmit operator and patient identification, lot numbers and expiration dates to improve risk management. The system allows test lockout if quality is not assured.
“Both the Status+ and Status Connect build on what is already a highly successful product range,” said Catherine Spurgeon, Product Manager Urinalysis at Siemens Healthcare Diagnostics. “Improved quality checks and automation capabilities will help clinicians achieve even greater levels of efficiency and accuracy in urinalysis. With the addition of QC management technology for ensuring appropriate use of the unit, both innovations represent the next generation of Point of Care testing.”
Clinitek is the most widely used urinalysis brand worldwide, with over 65,000 Clinitek Status Analysers purchased since 2003.
