Molecular diagnostics firm appoints new CEO

Glasgow-based molecular diagnostics company D3 Technologies Ltd has appointed David Burns as Chief Executive Officer.

Under Burns’ leadership, the company will launch its first IVD products worldwide. Already established as a supplier of trace level detection technologies for medical diagnostics, forensic science and other applications, it aims to become a global leader in molecular diagnostics for human infectious diseases.

David Burns has over 20 years’ experience of sales, marketing and business development within the life science industries. He was previously VP of Sales & Marketing with Cyntellect Inc, and before that Head of Strategic Growth with GE Healthcare Life Sciences. He has also held senior roles within Amersham Biosciences, Imaging Research Inc. and BioSignal Packard Inc.

The company’s current CEO, Professor Ewen Smith, is standing down to focus on the technical development of the new diagnostic products. He commented: “I am delighted to welcome David to the Company. We already have a strong multi-disciplinary technical team and with his proven leadership skills, international experience of the clinical molecular diagnostics market and excellent track record in business development, the future is very bright for D3 Technologies.”
